Welcome to the Mid Sussex Marathon Weekend 2016. The only event to bring the three towns of Mid Sussex – East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill – together!
Why not get involved?
After another successful year in 2015, when over 1000 runners took part in the three days, the weekend returns for a fifth time in 2016, comprising three races:
The three races combined will cover a total of 26.2 miles – the classic marathon distance. Using undulating roads, trails and pathways in and around Mid Sussex, the races are run over mainly traffic-free routes. The event suits runners of all standards including those new to 10 mile races. Runners can enter each race individually but those completing all three will receive a special commemorative Marathon Weekend medal as well as their individual race medals. In addition to the main races, there will be a Mid Sussex Mile race open to all, including younger runners and those seeking a more leisurely distance.
The event is managed by Places for People Leisure, in association with Nice Work, on behalf of Mid Sussex District Council along with East Grinstead, Haywards Heath and Burgess Hill Town Councils. Local businesses are welcome to get involved in this fantastic event either through sponsorship, entering a corporate team or donating items for prizes. We are also offering the opportunity for local clubs and organisations to run a stand or stall at each race day, to make it a real community event. We look forward to welcoming you on the Spring Bank Holiday weekend in 2016.
